The SCGA Championships and Golf Operations staff is your resource for all questions related to The Rules of Golf, tournament administration, tournament formats, course markings, Local Rules to adopt at your home club, and more. We are excited to offer workshops on The Rules of Golf which are open to any golfer who is passionate about golf and interested in the Rules. Knowing the rules can help save you strokes!
FORMAT:
Each workshop will review The Rules of Golf, effective January 2023, which includes the five areas of the course: (1) General Area, (2) Teeing Area, (3) Penalty Areas, (4) Bunkers, (5) Putting Green of hole being played by the player. Other rules in support of these five areas will be covered.
AGENDA:
- Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Coffee and tea will be served; however, breakfast will not be available.
- The Rules of Golf Workshop will begin at 8 a.m.
- The workshop will feature a PowerPoint presentation and interactive session that will review the most common rulings we encounter on the golf course as well as numerous other frequently asked Rules questions.
- Lunch will be served at approximately noon
- Following lunch attendees will spend approximately 1.5 hours on the golf course covering many different situations, rotating between different stations. Feel free to bring an umbrella for shade, a tripod seat or a shooting stick to sit on for the outdoor stations. In the event of inclement weather, the outdoor portion will be conducted indoors.
- Each workshop will conclude no later than 2:30 p.m.
ELIGIBILITY: SCGA Rules Workshops are open to all SCGA members.
REGISTRATION OPENS: Wednesday, December 18, 2024
ENTRY DEADLINE: Sunday, January 26, 2025
WORKSHOP INFORMATION: Complete workshop details, including the final agenda, will be posted on scga.org after entries close and emailed to all attendees.
WORKSHOP FEE: $75 (includes the workshop and lunch).
DRESS CODE: Please wear appropriate golf attire, including collared shirts for men. You may wear tennis shoes or sneakers. Flip-flops, jeans, or denim are not permitted.
EDUCATION:
PGA Members receive a maximum of 4 PDR hours for attending an entire program. GCSAA members receive .55 GCSAA education points for attending an entire program.
LATE ENTRIES: The SCGA accepts late entries, assuming space is still available at the given event. Late entries will be subject to an additional $20 fee and can only be processed over the phone or through email.
REFUND POLICY: Requests for refunds prior to the entry closing date will be honored less a $20 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours prior to the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
